General Covering and Project Applications
Surface protection and covering
Sheeting can cover materials, equipment or surfaces during storage and work. The shape of the surface, handling and exposure determine what the covering needs to withstand. Clear sheet allows the covered contents to remain visible, while black sheet gives an opaque covering.
Moisture and vapour-barrier requirements
An under-slab vapour barrier has a specified role within a construction assembly. Its material, thickness and performance evidence need to match the project specification. A roll chosen for general covering should not be assumed to meet that specification solely because it is polyethylene.

Cores, Sleeves and Outer Packing
- Roll cores: PVC pipe or paper.
- Sleeves: LDPE or HDPE, with colour and plain or printed options.
- Outer packing: palletized or bundle presentation.
The sleeve is the packaging around the roll. Specify its print or colour separately from the sheet itself. Packing details matter when describing how rolls will be stored and moved.

Describe Width, Length and Thickness
Open width is the coverage across the fully unfolded sheet; folded width is the width of the material as presented on the roll. They can differ, so the roll’s packed width alone does not establish its coverage. Roll length and thickness describe separate dimensions.
Clear and black roll examples include a 20-metre length at 250 microns. Standard and commercial options are available. Share the intended use, required dimensions and any project performance specification so we can discuss the suitable option.
Test Reports and Project Records
Supporting polyethylene-sheet test reports include thickness, tensile and elongation, puncture and water-vapour testing of submitted samples.
